Roadcheck 2007

highwayFor the past twenty years, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CSVA) has sponsored a 3-day event to promote commercial motor vehicle safety on North American highways. This year’s event, Roadcheck 2007, resulted in over 62,000 roadside level 1 inspections of CMV’s and motor coaches.

The inspections were completed by approximately 10,000 specially trained and certified officers from United State federal and state agencies, as well as Canadian and Mexican agencies. During this 72-hour period, 6.2% of drivers were put out of service, the vast majority of which (65.9%) were for Hours of Service violations. The vehicle out-of-service rate was 21.5%, the vast majority of which (53.9%) were for brake-related problems.

The following breakdown of results can help you identify items of concern and categories of regulatory attention. Sentry insurance recommends you take these results, as well as your specific company roadside inspection results, into consideration when developing your driver training and vehicle maintenance programs.
