Jena & Pam -RSI Claims Representatives
Q: Claims huh? Why this profession?
A: I was offered a position as a customer service and marketing rep for a small agency. The offer was pitched as a great education experience in a fast-paced industry and it seemed like a great opportunity. Sure enough, it was and once you are in it becomes a part of you. I love what I do. I eventually came to RSI to work in the claims department .It has been wonderful.
Q: Would you recommend this business or profession to a friend?
A: I would and I have. A few of my friends now work in the insurance industry thanks to my encouragement.
Q: What do you love about your job? What do you most dislike?
A: I love it all for the most part. My job is like a roller coaster with many ups, downs, twists, and turns. I never have a dull moment in my day and I am constantly busy. The day flies by. I enjoy helping others. When an insured has a claim, it is always a rough time regardless of the size of the claim. It is a change in their day-to-day operations and upset them. I enjoy trying to make the process as smooth as possible for all parties involved.
Q: You are always so positive and upbeat, what motivates you?
A: So many things. My work ethic alone makes it impossible for me to slack off. I am employed and compensated to do a job and my work represents me. I refuse to not do well. This company has been good to me and I insist on returning the favor.
Q: Claims must get hectic .What’s a typical day like for you?
A: Hectic yes, but always interesting. We receive about 30 calls a day from our insureds, adjusters, claimants, and the dreaded attorneys. We process faxes regarding new and pending claims. There is never a dull moment.
Q: What claims advice do you have for trucking companies?
A: Make claims a priority, regardless of how small you think they may be. The sooner you report a loss the better your chances are of mitigating the claim. This will benefit you in the long run. We are always here to help if you have any questions. Emphasize the importance of safety with your drivers as well as the importance of reporting claims to you immediately.
Q: Outside RSI what do you enjoy doing ?
A:I don’t get to engage in my hobbies as often as I would like, but they include dirt bike riding, watching sports (especially hockey), reading, movies and my new venture is to start rock climbing.
Q: How long have you worked at RSI now ?
A: 2 years and about 4 months
Q: What is one thing you have always wanted to do, but haven’t done yet?
A: Skydiving! I think it would be such an amazing experience and it is very much on my list of things to try.
Q: Where did you grow up and go to school?
A: I grew in Baldwin Park,CA and went to Baldwin Park High School. Home of the Braves! Most of my family and friends are still in Baldwin Park so I am there visiting regularly.
Q: If you won 1 million dollars, what would you do with it ?
A: Probably a boring answer, but I would buy a house and invest most of the money.
Q: What is your favorite memory of or at RSI?
A: Our annual Christmas Party and the Annual Angels Games are always a big hit in my book.
