Industry Outreach

In October I wrote about two industry events in the Port of Long Beach and Port of Oakland sponsored by both RSI and Firemans Fund Heritage Grant program. We are extremely proud to have been able to donate essential equipment to both of these fire stations. In the Port of Long Beach we donated a new submersible water pump to be used for suctioning water from vessels. The equipment will allow crews to rapidly pump water from commercial vessels and personal watercraft in the early stages of sinking.

In the Port of Oakland we donated hazardous materials tool used to siphon and remove fuel from a tanker before it leaks or causes major environmental damage. The new equipment also comes with a special training simulator to enable firefighters to practice and hone their skills in preparation for using the tools during a real emergency.

Oakland Fire Chief Daniel Farrell. “But when a tanker overturns and doesn’t catch fire, we now have this device which enables us to remove the fuel and stabilize the scene before things get worse.”
